Eligibility Criteria for NEET 2021
NEET (National Eligibility and Entrance Test) is a national entrance exam administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for candidates interested in undergraduate medical and dental programmes such as BDS & MBBS at government & private colleges across the country.
This is a one-tier
exam that is administered once a year, generally in the month of May. The AIPMT
(All India Pre-Medical Test) has been superseded by the NEET Exam since 2016.
Candidates should
read the application form carefully before applying for NEET in order to ensure
that they meet the eligibility requirements. The exam criteria will differ
depending on whether the exam is conducted in a state or throughout the
country.

Age Criteria |
For
students in all categories, the minimum age requirement is 17 years old as of
December 31 of the year of admission. As
a result, candidates must have been born on or before December 31, 2004, to
be eligible for the lower age restriction. As
& since the decision is still pending, there is no upper age limit for
candidates seeking to take the NEET exam. As
a result, students beyond the age of 25 can take part in NEET on a
provisional basis, with a 5-year age relaxation for SC/OBC/ST/NCL applicants
and PwBD candidates until further notice. |
Aggregate Marks |
50 per cent for the General Category
(Physically Handicapped, PH – 45 per cent) and 40 per cent for OBC/SC/ST (PH
– 40 per cent). Note that the scores earned in Math will not
be included in this exam. |
Number of Subjects |
Physics, Biology & Chemistry will make up
a total of three disciplines. |
Number of attempts |
In NEET 2021, there really is no such attempt
restriction. |
Year of Passing |
• Eligible candidates are those who will be taking their board exams
in the year 2021. • Candidates who have taken the Class 12 exam and are taking the
improvement exam - they are eligible. • Students who took an improvement exam in 2021 after taking the
Class 12 exam in 2020 might indicate the year of the exam with a higher
score. |
NEET State Quota Eligibility
Criteria
It should be noted that around 85% of MBBS/BDS seats
would be reserved for NEET states quota counselling.
The remaining 15% of seats for All India Counselling
would be allocated at the central level.
As a matter of fact, candidates are required to meet
the following requirements:
• Applicants must indeed be permanent residents of
state in which they are submitting their application.
• Applicants, they must provide proof of residency
• Applicants must have completed (or be in the
process of completing) their secondary education (Class 12th) in the particular
state
NEET All India Quota Eligibility
Criteria
• Applicants must be Indian citizens.
• The aforementioned age conditions must be met.
• Candidates over the age of 25 can take NEET on a
provisional basis while the case is still in court and a judgement is pending.
