Points of Difference between BLS and ACLS

BLS or Basic Life Support is a type of pre-medical hospital care that is provided by the health care professionals like nurses, doctors, physicians and paramedics to treat patients with respiratory problems, cardiac arrest or during an obstructed airway. On the other hand, ACLS or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support is a type of healthcare treatment provided to patients to treat serious cardiovascular conditions like heart attack, cardiac arrest and stroke. Although both these life support techniques are used interchangeably and have a common objective of saving a patient’s life from cardiac arrest in most cases, they also have significant differences between them: While all health professionals know how to provide basic life support, it is not mandatory for everyone to know the ACLS treatment.
